Driving with a blood alcohol level between 0.8 to 1.5gr/l causes the fine to rise to 800-3200 €, with detention up to 3 months and driving disqualification from 6 months to 1 year.
With blood alcohol level higher than 1.5gr/l the sanction goes from a minimum of 1500€ up to 6000€. Detentions can last up to 6 months and driving disqualification from 1 to 2 years. Sanctions double when the driver causes a car accident (fine from 3000 to 12000 €, disqualifications from 6 months to 2 years). Any person driving under the influence of drugs or psychotropic substances is punished with a fine from 1000 to 4000 €, detention up to 3 months and driving disqualification from 6 months up to 1 year.
